The Road is Calling

The road race season in Michigan kicked off in April with Spring Training Series Races in Ann Arbor and Waterford and the Ciociaro Can Am Challenge Series in Windsor. Now that roadies are all warmed up, it's time to stretch their legs in some good old-fashioned road and criterium racing. In the coming weeks road cyclists can look forward to the Grattan Race Series kick-off, the Cone Azalia Classic road race, the Tour of Kensington Valley, the Priority Health Tour De Leelanau, the Tour De Gaslight Criterium and in June, a race that is quickly becoming a favorite among all racers, citizen and professional alike - The Superior Bike Fest in Marquette.

Bad News, Good News, More Questions

I just received a grim e-mail to end an otherwise unremarkable day. The subject line read "Ryan Shay Autopsy Released."

Going Clubbing

I don't remember exactly when I joined my first running club, but I have vivid memories of the club itself. It was the Ann Arbor (Michigan) Track Club, and someone I'd met at a race must have persuaded me to attend a track workout.

Killer Intervals

Spring is here—time to defrost those legs. After hours of winter base miles, cyclists can start getting serious with short, intense intervals sessions targeted at addressing weaknesses and honing strengths.

We want this to you be your home for Endurance Sports news, events and resources. We've been working hard over the past two months to redesign our websites to bring you more of what you've been asking for... News, Events and Resources.  Check out this guided tour of our new websites and it's features.
New Year, New Look!

So, let's start with the most obvious change. After listening to your input and suggestions, we decided it was time for a brand new look for our sites. Something that made it easier to pick out the most current news, read stories, and find the information you were looking for more easily. With our new design, we're aiming to meet all those things and more. We've also added some fancy new 'web 2.0' eye-candy to make it a bit easier to get what you're looking for! Tell us what you think of our new design... We'd love the feedback!

Home Page

Our Home page is broken into 4 areas: Features, Breaking news, your picks and the side-bar. Each section will help you find just what you're looking for throughout the site.

Features:Our features section resides at the top of the home page. We've added some 'bling' with a slideshow on the home page to show you some of the most interesting stories we have running currently. Who knows, you may also find a sweepstakes or two in the mix from time to time. You can pause or play the slideshow, or click on any of the thumbnails to see that slide.  We were looking for a way to highlight some of our super-talented photographers who make such great contributions to our site, and we think this is a great way to do that.

To the right of the slide show is a link to our RSS feeds. For those of you familiar with RSS, we've added feeds to the main sections of our site to keep you updated as we post new articles. If your not familiar with RSS, click the link... We've some useful information there to help you get started. WARNING: RSS can be addicting... use with caution!

Below the RSS link is the Recent Posts area. This shows the most recent 4 stories we've posted to our site. No need to hunt and peck to find the last thing that we added. Just check out the box, and you'll be up-to-date. Want to see when the last update to the site was? Check out the 'Updated' box at the top. It'll show you the day, month and time the last update was made. Now you'll always know when there's something new to read.

Finally, We've added some cool new photo galleries. We've amasses quite a collection of photography over the years as you can imagine, and we wanted to give you a way to view them. stay tuned for event photos, cover photo-shoots and a few more tricks we may turn out.

Breaking News: The Next section down on is Breaking news. This is where we will post the most current news to hit the world of Endurance Sports. IF it's happening in running, cycling, triathlon, swimming, adventure racing or any other endurance sport, you can bet you'll find it hear. Just click the title or photo, and you'll be reading the full story in no time.

We've also added a 'more stories section'... Things that are still interesting to read, but may not be breaking news worthy. Have a few minutes at lunch? This is a great section to check out for some more interesting reading.

Your Picks: In the your picks section, the articles are chosen entirely by you. The three tabs will show the articles that our community is reading, or discussing. The Most read tab contains the stories that have been, well, read the most times.  The Most Popular tab shows the stories with the highest rating (will get to that in a second), and the Most Discussed tab shows the stories that have the most comments with them, another new feature to the site. Want to see what your competition is reading? This is great place to start!

Sidebar: The sidebar will reside on the right-side of all the pages of our site. It's got things that we think are so important, we want you to see them always.

This Month's Magazine showcases articles in the most recent issue of the magazine. Haven't picked up the magazine yet this month? What are you waiting for! Go out and get a copy now... We'll wait..... If you can't find a copy of the magazine, you can check this section out to read what you're missing.

Transitions is our poll. We'll be changing this out often, and giving you the opportunity to tell us more about what you think, what you like, and what you're looking for. You can vote in the poll, or view results from this poll, or any previous one we've run.

New on CM Radio: Did you know we have a podcasting site? Bob Babbitt has been interviewing the most notable names in our sports for the past 20 years. With that wealth of content, we dedicated a whole new site to just posting those shows online, and podcasting episodes out each and every week. Here's you'll find the most recent three podcast we have published. Check out competitorradio.com  regularly though, as we don't always podcast all our new episodes.

Want to find out the rest of the changes to the site? Keep reading!
