Spotlight Advocacy Works!
Thanks to the lobbying efforts of the LMB and other bicycle advocacy
groups, both the House and Senate passed in October the bicycle commuter tax
provision. It will allow employers to offer "fringe" benefit reimbursement of up
to $20/month to an employee who regularly commutes to work by bicycle. The
expense must be related to the purchase, improvement, repair and storage of the
bicycle. Check out Sec 211 of HR1424 here.

I've created a new webpage where we can post ride maps for club rides. They could be useful as a way to get a map to a substitute RC, or if you're just looking for a good ride in an unfamiliar part of town. Look for the link next to the Ride Schedule link under the banner at the top of the our home page.
2008 Points/Reward System What's a point? What's the reward? Why should I be interested? It's incentive for all RW members to participate cycling activities like rides, general meetings, being a ride captain, racing, volunteering, chairing events, recruiting new members, fund raising, etc. etc. Wear your RW jersey, shorts, and/or T-shirts for BONUS POINTS! Download the points spreadsheet, review the additional instructions and how many points you earn for different activities. The top three club members receive gift certificates to local bike shops or credit towards club apparel. The top 2 junior members (under 16 at 10/31/08) receive the same. Holiday Social Ride Thursday Jan 8 Pull out your winter wheels, warm apparel and lights and meet us on Bronson St. across from the Ada Bike Shop. We’ll start a comfortable ride at 6:00pm and then head back to the Schnitz Deli (above the bike shop). The club will provide lots of great appetizers and refreshments.
